Season’s greetings

December 31, 2012
2012 has been a great year for me. We successfully launched our online store, partnered for the first time with boutiques located outside of Lebanon and just recently welcomed a colorful homeware collection.

I say “We” because none of the above would have been possible without your contribution. It was your constant feedback, support and lovely words that built the brand. I can’t thank you enough for making the year so special.

And here’s the best part: we’re just getting started! Expect amazing new designs to come out in 2013: this is just the beginning and I can already tell we’re heading somewhere.

I wish I could give each one of you a big hug. It might be a little bit difficult given that we’re spread out across the planet. My little penguin is sending you one instead.

 Until next time, happy holidays,
& see you in 2013!
Happy new year!

Happy new year!

2012 in review

December 31, 2012

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 8,800 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 15 years to get that many views.

New ‘home’ collection – Just in!

December 18, 2012

I am so excited to share with you my latest ‘home’ collection. It was released this week at Afkart, the Lebanese designers’ exhibition in Biel.

The collection includes: cushions, coasters and tea towels. The fabric is extremely soft and beautiful to touch. I chose 100% organic cotton that was printed in Spain. All the patterns are my drawings of course, drawn in Beirut or Madrid. Sometimes on the plane too : )

Check some of the photos below. For more info, check our website here.

City in portraits – Solidere Annual Report

November 12, 2012

I just received the Solidere annual report!

For this year’s edition, 70 individuals who live or work in the center of Beirut, were chosen to be photographed by Spanish photographer Miguel Ángel Sánchez. People from all industries: music, architecture, TV, food, cooking, etc… were chosen to be part of this project. I was one of them! Yes!!!! I was so lucky to be featured in this catalog as the accessory and textile designer at Starch in Saifi.

The photoshoot took place last April. We were asked to bring items that characterize our profession. The fisherman got fish, the florist flowers, the textile designer scarves. etc… The portraits were photographed in a black box created at the Beirut Souks with special studio lights.

The catalog is out, and the photos look gorgeous! You can check them below.

Thank you Limassol and Nathalie for this great opportunity! And thank you Alexandre Dossat for the beautiful text.

Beirut pop up shop opening in Doha

September 28, 2012

The opening of the Beirut pop up shop in Doha took place on the 26th of September at the Katara Art center in Qatar. Mayssa contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in having my products sold there. I agreed on the spot: it was a great opportunity!

You can read more info about the Katara art center on their facebook here. The Beirut pop store is the first of a series, and the aim is to have twice per year each focusing on designers from one city from the gulf or the middle east.

The idea is great and the space is just fantastic. If you are in Doha by any chance, make sure to pass by and check my work and other lebanese designers’ work too: Sarah’s bag, Rana Salam, Margherita and many others! : )
